If you are under 25 and living in Derbyshire you can request your free chlamydia test
The Government has set up a National Chlamydia Screening Programme to encourage young people to have a Chlamydia test and get treatment if they need it.
Derbyshire is now able to offer free Chlamydia screening tests at various locations around Derbyshire within the County and Derby City.
Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection (STI) caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis.
In the UK, the number of new diagnoses has been steadily increasing and it has now become the most commonly diagnosed Sexually Transmitted Infection.
As Chlamydia sometimes has no symptoms in both men and women, it can often go undiagnosed, unless it leads to complications. This means because most people don't have any symptoms, they don't know they have the infection unless they have a test or their partner or ex-partner informs them
1 in 10 sexually active women and men under the age of 25 who are tested have it!
The good news is, once the infection has been diagnosed, it can be treated
No embarrassing examination
You can receive your results using a contact method of your choice, e.g. phone, text, letter etc.
The more people who have Chlamydia, the more people they can pass it on to, meaning the situation just gets worse
Left untreated Chlamydia can cause serious health complications
FREE tests are available to everyone aged under 25 years old
Tests are done by you giving a simple urine (wee ) sample
Please do not pass urine (wee) for 1 hour before the test
Tests are available at several places throughout Derbyshire County and Derby City
Tests are confidential unless there is serious risk to you or to someone else's health and safety
FREE treatment is available if your test is positive
